Superstition Mountain

November, 2009

Another fun wheeling weekend, this time at Superstition. We arrived Friday mid-day after celebrating Thanksgiving with family in town. We explored more of the north side of the mountain this trip and found some fun stuff in the Wishbone Area.

The wind picked up and blew hard all Saturday afternoon and throughout the night. We debated leaving early, but decided to stick it out. By Sunday morning it had mellowed out a bit and we were able to do a morning run around to the north side and then back through the dunes.

Danny taunts Cale Steeper and softer than it looks Gaining some clearance the hard way

Cale found a soft patch of sand and got stuck. A quick tug and we were on our way again. Later after airing down a little too much he had a tire break loose from the bead in the rocks. When he backed up to get on more level ground the bead somehow re-set itself so all that was needed was to add some air. I've never seen that happen before... weird.

P.S. My special thanks on this trip goes out to the firefighters out at Ocotillo Wells. On our way home we pulled over at OW to take a break and I somehow locked my keys in the truck. Doh! Luckily the firefighters came cruising past just minutes later and had the equipment on board to pop the lock. Thanks guys!!
