Early CJ5.com buddy Don hosted a run from his property at Ocotillo. We covered a lot of ground. Way more than I'm used driving in one day, but it was time spent with my family and I got a chance to catch up with some friends, so we had a good time. There were eight vehicles total.

| Heading west from Ocotillo | Dos Cabezas Depot | Watch out! |
|---|
Our first stop was at the Dos Cabezas Depot which is about 100 years old. As people spread out to stretch their legs and look around we came across a couple of rattle snakes busy get'n busy. Cool to see, but a good reminder to keep an eye out when your exploring or looking for a private bush.

| Diablo Dropoff |
|---|
We turned north, crossed Highway S-2, and made our way through Canyon Sin Nombre and then to Diablo Dropoff. From there, we went through Fish Creek/Split Mountain. Our return route went along the Gypum Mining Railroad, a narrow gauge line. There's nothing of particular interest on this long, dusty road until you start getting into the Painted Gorge area. This area has some fun hills. By that time though we were pretty tired and anxious to get back to camp. We covered about 90 miles in 8 hours or so. Subtract out a some time for lunch and breaks and yeah, we were moving along at a pretty good pace.
