This was not a Jeeping trip, but a we had a fun weekend at Agua Caliente County Campground and exploring the nearby mud caves. There are at least 22 caves in the area. They are scattered along Arroyo Tapiado which is accessed from Vallecitos Wash. It can be driven with a 2WD vehicle if you're careful and stay clear of the soft sand.

Flashlights aren't necessary at Big Cave because of the many skylight openings. This was a good warm up for us before backtracking to three other caves that were pitch black once you went in past a couple of turns.

Head mounted flashlights are now on the Christmas list. They would have been nice to have since Sheri & I took turns carrying Collin a good portion of the time. Our cheapo LED flashlights were not up to the task. We'll be better prepared next time. We went to 'Big Cave', 'Plunge Pool Cave', 'Chasm Cave', and 'Carey's Big Mud Cave.'

We barely scratched the surface on the caves to be visited, but based on the kid's ages right now I think we picked the perfect ones to go to this weekend. I'm sure access for many of the other caves is much tighter and steeper.
